[ARCHIVED] Kenosha County Tree Program adds online store

Maple trees

Kenosha County’s Tree and Shrub Program is now offering people the opportunity to make purchases through an online store.

The program, which has sold nearly one million trees to residents over the last 25 years, previously accepted orders only through paper forms.

The purpose of the program is to encourage area residents to plant native trees and shrubs for conservation and wildlife enhancement.

“Planting a tree is an investment in the future,” County Executive Jim Kreuser said. “This program offers an easy, affordable way for people to further beautify their own little corner of Kenosha County.”

The program offers transplants and seedlings of a variety of pines, hardwoods, and shrubs at a cost of $20-$25 per bundle of trees or shrubs, depending on the variety ordered. There are 25 plants in a bundle.

Varieties of trees and shrub species are dependent upon availability, weather conditions, past sales success, tree performance and general demand trends. This year, among various other species, the stock includes White Pine, Frasier Fir, Black Walnut, Red and Sugar Maple, Birch, Lilacs, and Winterberry.

The Kenosha County tree sale is open to the interested public. Trees and shrubs are sold on a first-come, first-served basis and picked-up by the customer and the supply is limited.

More information about the program may be found on the county’s website, at The online store may be accessed directly at Order forms may also be obtained at the Division of Planning and Development in the Kenosha County Center, 19600 75th St., Bristol.

This year’s deadline to place orders is Feb. 23. Tree pickup day is typically in late April.
