[ARCHIVED] Kenosha County encourages people to Bike-to-Work

Kenosha County Executive Jim Kreuser, the Kenosha County Board of Supervisors and the county Multi-Use Trail Committee, with support from ExposeKenosha and the Kenosha Bicycle Ambassadors are encouraging people to bike to work.

Bike to Work Week is being celebrated in Kenosha County and across Wisconsin June 6 -13.

“The purpose of Bike to Work Week is to promote safe bicycle riding across Kenosha County,” County Executive Jim Kreuser said. “It’s also a fun and healthy way to explore all of Kenosha County.”

County Board Supervisor Leah Blough, who is also a member of the Kenosha County Multi-Use Trail Committee, said Bike to Work Week is also a way to increase awareness of alternative modes of transportation and to promote a cleaner environment.

“Taking a bike to work also has many health benefits, not only for the individual, but also for the environment,” Blough said.

As part of Kenosha County Bike to Work Week, each day a Kenosha County resident rides a bicycle to work during the week of June 6-13, he or she can enter to win various prizes. People may enter the contest at http://www.kenoshacounty.org/bikecontest.

Whether people are biking to work or they just want to be friendly supporters from behind the wheel, Kreuser and Blough remind everyone that they all play a role in making roads safer.

Some Safety Tips for Bicycle Riders:
