JUNE 14, 2022, UPDATE:
The Kenosha County Sheriff’s department continues to investigate this incident. The subject that entered the Kwik Trip has been identified as Jonathan Petersen, a 19-year-old male from the City of Kenosha.
The investigation revealed that Mr. Petersen went to the store to confront a female Kwik Trip employee that he previously worked with at a local grocery store. The female employee told deputies that Mr. Petersen pointed the gun at her and said if anyone comes near him, he would shoot her. When Mr. Petersen was confronted by law enforcement, he did in fact drop the rifle, but raised a knife to his own neck and was yelling for deputies to shoot him. It was at this point that Petersen was tasered by law enforcement. It was later discovered that the rifle Petersen was carrying was a realistic-looking airsoft rifle.
Petersen was arrested and transported to the Kenosha County Jail. Charges are being requested for Felony Terroristic Threats, DC while Armed, and a Restraining Order Violation.
We continue to ask anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department at (262) 605-5100 or anonymously to the Kenosha County Crime Stoppers at 262-656-7333.
