ORIGINAL THURSDAY, OCT. 21 RELEASE:
On Thursday, October 21st, 2021, at about 11:16 am KSD deputies were dispatched to the Benson Corners gas station (19942-75th Street) located at the corner of STH 50 at US 45 in an attempt to locate a stolen vehicle that was involved in a homicide out of Chicago.
Deputies located the vehicle and attempted to make contact with the operator and sole occupant of the vehicle. A high-risk traffic stop was conducted, and the suspect fled from the vehicle. A KSD K9 was on the scene and was deployed. While attempting to apprehend the suspect, our K9 was shot by the suspect.
