Kenosha County Falls Prevention Coalition

Kenosha County Falls Prevention Coalition logoFalls, why be concerned?

Because in Wisconsin...

Falls are the leading cause of injury among people 65 and older.
About 1/2 of all seniors sustaining a fall DO NOT resume independent living.
Older adults have among the highest rates of death due to complications from a fall.

As alarming as these statistics are, they fall short of the actual numbers since many incidents go unreported by seniors and unrecognized by family members and caregivers. If you or someone you know has fallen or is afraid of falling visit our falls prevention tips page for more information on how to keep yourself or someone you love safe.

The Kenosha County Falls Prevention Coalition was formed to work within the community to educate consumers and professionals about reducing the risk of falls and helping people to remain independent at home as long as possible. If you are interested in becoming a member or supporting the coalition in other ways, you can contact the Kenosha County Aging and Disability Resource Center at 262-605-6646.
