Wisconsin has one of highest fall death rates among older adults in the United States. One in four older adults, 65 or older, report falling each year. 36 million falls happen each year nationwide.
As alarming as these statistics are, they fall short of the actual numbers since many incidents go unreported by seniors and unrecognized by family members and caregivers. If you or someone you know has fallen or is afraid of falling visit our falls prevention tips page for more information on how to keep yourself or someone you love safe.
The Kenosha County Falls Prevention Coalition was formed to work within the community to educate consumers and professionals about reducing the risk of falls and helping people to remain independent at home as long as possible. If you are interested in becoming a member or supporting the coalition in other ways, you can contact the Kenosha County Aging & Disability Resource Center at 262-605-6646.
