1.  What is GIS?

GIS, an acronym for Geographic Information Systems,  is a collection of computer hardware, software and geographic data utilized for collecting, storing, manipulating analyzing and displaying spatially referenced information.

 

2.  What is a GIS layer?

A layer is a set of geographic data organized by subject matter, such as right-of-ways, rivers, or political boundaries.

 

3.  What kinds of hardcopy maps can I purchase?
